Glossary

Audio & Data Logging:

The phrase Audio & Data Logging refers to the practice of automatically recording one or more audio inputs for long term storage on computer’s hard disk. The P Squared product that is used for Audio and Data Logging is called Power log.

Audio Editing (Audio Editor):

An audio editor provides the means to visually view and work with the content of an audio file.  P Squared Audio Editor is called Smooth Edit.

Auto Track & Auto Track Pro:

Auto Track is part of the standard Myriad package and Auto Track Pro offers a range of powerful enhancements to provide the user with greater flexibility and control.

Benefits:

Improved Sound Quality, Wider Choice, Easy to use, Control Time and No retuning are the benefits of Digital Radios.

COFDM:

COFDM is the acronym of Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex.  This is used to ensure that the signals are received reliably even in noise prone environment.  This uses a mathematical relationship, to split across 1,536 different carrier frequencies, thus this process ensure that even if some of the carrier frequencies are affected by interference, or the signal disturbed for a short period of time, the receiver will still be able to recover the original sound.

Contact Manager:

Allows the user to access and manage a central contacts database for all the stations contacts needs.

Easy tuning:

The user can select necessary station and frequency with the help of digital radio setting Digital radios come with a display screen where the names of the stations available will appear alphabetically on the screen.  User can make their option as zero with the list available and can enjoy their favorite stations.

Information Hub:

A central system for managing information from a diverse range of source.  Nexus is P Squared information hub.

Less interference:

Digital Radio reduces the irritating sounds, crackle and fade.  The user can often get with FM radio and always have to put up with AM.  The user can get digital quality sound with less irritating interference.

Music cam:

MUSICAM is a system, which reduces the large amount of digital information required to be broadcasted.  The system discard the sounds which is not heard clearly by the user like very quiet sounds and louder sounds.

Myriad:

P Squared Play out and Automation system.  A Suite of programs that allow for the live or automated play out of audio content and additional items that makes up the output of the radio station.

Music & Link Scheduling:

This refers to the process of allotting music, links and other events in to pre-installed programs to be passed to the play out system for live or automated play out.

Multimedia Broadcasting:

The practice of broadcasting additional non audio content that compliments the audio broadcast.  This broad casting can be produced by the P squared product called OCP (Online Content Processor).

Newsroom System:

The term Newsroom system refers to a system that can capture incoming audio and text based on news from a variety of sources.  The P Squared newsroom system is called Scoop.

Nexus:

The information super hub, that collates information from a range of different sources on to a single screen.

OCP (Online Content Processor):

OCP adds the ability to broadcast additional text, data and picture information to digital platforms such as DAB Digital Radio or web pages.

Play out & Automation System:

It is a software system used to play music and other elements which develop a radio program. Play out system store audio signal on local storage and can be used for presenting live shows and allows the radio station to run the program in the absence of the programmer.  P Squared’s play out system is called Myriad.

Power log:

Audio and data logging system that allows the user to automatically record and store the station’s audio output along with a range of additional data criteria, for a present period of time.

Remote Voice Tracker:

Voice Tracker adds the ability to record Voice Tracks from a remote site of a VPN connection or the web.

Segue:

A segue is a term used to specify the transition of one audio signal to the next signal which is also called as a Mix or a Cross Fade.  Segues can be either performed manually by the presenter or done automatically by the computer.

Voice Tracking:

Voice Tracking is a radio industry term referring the practice of pre-recording voice links.  The Voice Tracking process in Myriad is accessed with the Voice Segue Editor button or remotely using Remote Voice Tracker.

Split Transmission:

Split transmission is the process of splitting the output of the radio station and hence different geographical area or alternate transmission medium receive different version of the same broadcast.

Scoop (Capture & Edit):

Scoop is a newsroom system that is split in to two parts named scoop capture and scoop edit.

Scoop Capture:

Scoop Capture automatically captures or download audio and text content from a range of news sources and manages a central news database for the radio station.

Scoop Edit:

Scoop Edit is used by journalists to view and edit the audio and text formats.  Scoop Edit also has a play out mode which help journalist present news bulletins.

Smooth Edit:

P Squared audio editor program.  This is used to edit the radio signals.
